“Presentation from the Special Delivery Unit – Performance Improvement”
Presented by Lis Nixon
Director, for Performance Improvement in Unscheduled Care in the Special Delivery Unit
Large Lecture Theatre, 3rd Floor Dublin Dental University Hospital
Since the Special Delivery Unit (SDU) become operational in September 2011, it has worked with hospitals across the country. Improving access for patients, to both unscheduled and scheduled care in hospitals, is central to the role of the SDU. To date, the SDU interventions in relation to unscheduled care have reduced the number of patients waiting on trolleys in ED.
The HMI Dublin Mid Leinster Region is delighted that Lis Nixon, Director for Performance Improvement in Unscheduled Care in the Special Delivery Unit will address our next meeting. Lis has previoulsy worked as an independent consultant specialising in expert reviews, system reform and implementation of best practice models. She was also the National Lead for Performance Improvement and implementtion for the Ambulance services in the UK. Her role afforded her the opportunity to visit all the Ambulance Trusts in England and work with them to ensure consistent, sustaiinable improvements in their work to ensure delivery of the Call Connect standard – an 8 minute response time for Category A patients.
